After Sunday's political capitulation on the public option, today Dr. Howard Dean comes out swinging! This afternoon on MSNBC's new show, 'dr. Nancy' with Dr. Nancy Snyderman, Dr. Dean gave the blunt truth on the perils of true health care reform if no public option is included.
Who benefits under a proposed 50-state health care co-op system? If you guessed the mammoth, private health insurance companies, well...
Imagine another bailout for private insurance companies, $60 billion dollars to 50 state "private" co-ops who do not have the numbers to be competetive and also have the same financial constraints to stay profitable like a regular business. As Howard Dean illustrates, it can't work. It didn't work with (now) mostly private Blue Cross/ Blue Shield, just look at the lack of policy fulfillment the nation's health providers have with ordinary Americans.
As Dr. Dean clearly argues, co-ops are more of the same.
Hmm, no wonder, Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley now supports the co-op idea (just not the current one). The Republican plan: water down the bill to ineffectual drivel and then it dies on its own.
Republicans destroy the President's top priority as President Obama's integrity gets destroyed with its liberal base. Seems simple enough. So, why is the President playing into their hands, just to get a couple conservative Democratic votes?
