
Illinois' Senator Dick Durbin Sunday was on CNN's State of the Union with John King who then asked whether Durbin was open to dropping the public option to move forward. Here is his "response":
How refreshing! Dick Durbin doesn't say "no", but he doesn't say "yes" either. Just "open"..with a firm majority in the Senate. Is there any reason why Majority Leader Senator Harry Reid can't strong arm the votes needed to ensure a strong national public insurance plan?
For health care reform to be effective, the insurance playing field must be changed for consumer first, and business interests last, especially when the insurance companies stand to earn dream profits with 95% + of Americans suddenly added to the insurance roles.
When the Obama administration and the Democrats negotiate with the Republicans for months and all they get is delays and calls that they haven't negotiated (even with all the Republican amendments), it's time to reconciliation.
Obama 2009 will not be Clinton 1993.
